The YMCA & Alzheimer’s Association – One More Reason to Get Moving

At the YMCA, we know that movement is medicine, not just for the body but for the mind as well. And now, thanks to our partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, we have One More Reason to encourage people of all ages to stay active—because regular physical activity can help reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline.

The Science is Clear:

  • Physical activity increases blood flow to the brain, supporting cognitive function.
  • Movement reduces stress and improves sleep, both essential for brain health.

What Can We Do?

At the YMCA, we’re making it easy for individuals and families to prioritize brain health through movement. Whether it’s group fitness classes, water aerobics, strength training, or simply walking more, every bit of movement counts.

How can YOU help?

✔ Encourage a loved one to get active—even a short daily walk can make a difference!

✔ Join a YMCA class to get moving in a fun, supportive environment.

✔ If you’re a caregiver, prioritize movement for both you and your loved one—it benefits you both!

Exercise isn’t just for muscles—it’s for memory, too. If you need One More Reason to Get Moving, this is it.
